What AlNahda HAS done and WILL do for Students
- Education Inadequacy: Many children in Egypt face significant educational challenges. This center aims to provide quality education, particularly in STEM fields, to underserved communities, including refugees from South Sudan and Sudan.
- Impact of the War in Sudan and South Sudan: The ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and especially Sudan and South Sudan has had a devastating impact on education and the lives of children. This program provides a safe and supportive learning environment for refugee children who have experienced trauma.
- English Language Proficiency: English language proficiency is crucial for future opportunities, especially for refugees who may seek resettlement in English-speaking countries. The center will prioritize English language instruction within its curriculum.
- Access Barriers: Many students, particularly refugees, face financial and social barriers to accessing quality education in Egypt. This center aims to provide affordable and inclusive education, regardless of race or financial background.
- Holistic Child Development: This center recognizes the importance of holistic child development. In addition to academic instruction, the program will focus on providing a safe and nurturing environment for students, including:
- Child Care: The center will function as a safe haven for children and young adults, keeping them off the streets and providing a structured environment.
- Nutrition: Recognizing that some children may not have access to adequate nutrition at home, the center will explore options for providing nutritious meals to students.
- Mental Health Support: The center will incorporate psychosocial support programs to address the trauma experienced by refugees due to the ongoing conflict.
- Women's Empowerment: The center will actively promote gender equality and empower young women in STEM fields.
- Child Protection: The center will prioritize child protection and safeguarding measures to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all students.
- Staff Training: The center will provide ongoing training for staff on child protection, mental health support, and other relevant topics.
