ART and SCULPTURE KIT
(Under Construction)
This kit will provide students the components to support a course which is an introduction to Physical Computing. This kit will support their efforts in designing and building a variety of physical objects and installations that use Microcomputers, Sensors and Actuators to animate their creations and often make them responsive to humans.
This kit is based on the Electronic Brick concept to make connections to devices more easy and reliable.
MICROCOMPUTER CONTROLLER:
The Arduino-Compatible controller used in this kit is the "Red Back Spider" Robot Controller designed by Russell Cameron at Dagu Robotics. Using an ATmega1280 CPU this controller is fully compatible with the Arduino Mega (2560). This controller includes a 5 Volt 3A switch mode power supply and is capable of driving up to 48 micro servos directly from the PCB. All of the processors 70 I/O pins are terminated as both a female header and a SensorShield/Servo compatible 3pin male header.. A special "Shield" board that mounts atop the Red Back will be available on request to provide two high-power channels to supply higher currents when large numbers of Servos are used.
